    Wonderful night
Tonight was probably the most fun i've had in a long time. I was supposed to go to bball practice (which i was looking forward to), but it was canceled at about 655 because the gym had graduation stuff in it. Since i had nothing else to do, i changed and hurried down to the metrodome and met a bunch of people there all before the first pitch. It was amazing timing and i have to thank my dad driving me up there for that. The game was amazing. Torii had a grand slam and went 5-5 with 6rbi. I also got my first look at abernathy, and castro made some more nice plays. After the game, we went to TCBY and got ice cream for a dollar. Then we went to nellie's house and watched wet hot american summer which was pretty funny, but when it stopped working part way through, we ended up just talking and stuff for a while. I don't know why it was so great, but i'm just in a really great mood after tonight. I like meeting new and exciting people while still hanging out with old and exciting people. Other than that stupid job hunt, life is wonderful! I should get some sleep because ihave a dentist appointment tomorrow morning. Night everyone!

Why is it so damn hard to find a job!??!
Ugh. I'm willing to work any hours and at just about anywhere, and yet I still can't find a job. You'd think there would be some sort of work out there somewhere for me. I mean I'm at least somewhat intelligent and i'm willing to work hard to do whatever job, but i need to find one first for that to matter... I can hardly even have a conversation with my dad anymore because every single thing he says to me now is "Bring this app here. Call this place. Talk to so and so and see if they are hiring." I don't even remember the last time he said anything to me that wasn't about jobs and i'm so sick of the topic because i want a job just as much as he wants me to have one. Ugh. Sorry. I needed to rant a little bit i guess... I'm back off to look for jobs again... Bye.

    Hmmm, let's see.
I just got the new Starting Line CD at midnight tonight. It sounds pretty good. I'll have to listen to it a time or two more for my official decision. Yesterday was an awesome day. The Twins won, they made me the best burrito i had ever had at Chipotle (it was sooo full), there were two new simpsons, a new family guy, and a new american dad. That might be all. Today i had jamba juice which was really good. I get extremely uncomfortable around angry people. I never know what to do. I should be studying a lot more for my exams. Crap. I just want it all to be done so i can go home. I need to find a job for the summer. Any ideas? What book should i read next? Only 4 finals and then i'm done with my first year of college. Wow it went fast. Zoology is the worst class ever. Don't take it. Ever. Sorry for the random entry. Lots of stuff going through my mind? I don't even know. Goodnight all.

    No more classes...
Well peeps, it's about 330 in the morning and I don't feel like going to bed because once I do, I'll just have to wake up and start studying for finals. Anyhow, today was pretty awesome. I finished my last paper last night and didn't get quite as much sleep as i would have liked, but it's all good.

I had my last two lectures of the year today (and was able to give zoology a bad course evaluation!) and then came back to the room. One of the kids from my floor came into our room and asked if we wanted to go to a comp sci picnic with free food, so Todd and I said sure, and four of us headed out for this picnic. We ended up walking like a mile and a half to get there and found out it was supposedly in the parking lot outside the zoo that i didn't know existed! At that point, i didn't even care about food, i just wanted to go to the zoo. We walked around the outside of the entire zoo and never did find the picnic, so we just went in and looked at lots of animals (including penguins, tapers, polar bears, and seals). It was definitely awesome and i'm kinda disappointed that i didn't know about it until now and that i didn't have my camera with because zoos are awesome. By the time we made it back to the dorms my legs were dead from walking so far, but it was definitely worth it.

I don't have anything to do but study until wednesday when i have my first final, so i should definitely be prepared! I have calc on wednesday, philosophy on thursday, astronomy on friday and the dreaded zoology to close things off on saturday. My parents are coming into town on friday so that we can move most of my stuff out ahead of time and then leave immediately after my zoology exam saturday morning.

Anyhow, i'm sure hardly anyone cares about any of this, but it allowed me to stay up a little bit longer without succumbing to total boredom, but i suppose i will head to bed now.

    Tilly + Profits + Numb3rs + Chins = Good start to weekend
So the weekend started off very well. Casey is here in town visiting me. We went to Chin's for supper which was good. Then we went and watched some music in front of the lake. A local band called The Profits that is really good played, and that was fun. The Violent Femmes were next, but we left before that to go to the Tilly and the Wall show. The first band wasn't that good. Charlemagne played next and was pretty good. Tilly closed and it was awesome. They have a tap dancer instead of a drummer which is just sweet. They also have two female singers and one male singer that all go together really well and they put on a really fun show. Once we got back there were drunk people in my room playing drinking games so we watched them for a while and then watched Numb3rs when they left. It was a really interesting episode that got me thinking a bit. Tomorrow we are going to see the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie which I am SUPER excited for. Then sunday is two new simpsons episodes, and the start of new family guy and american dad episodes. Once that is done, it is hardcore schoolin till the end of the year. Maybe i'll update again soon.

P.S. I really want to see Rilo Kiley at First Ave on Saturday May 14th (the night I get home), but I don't know who would go with me

    Baseball is back
Well, baseball is officially back. I watched the Twins game today on my computer in about a 2 inch box, but that works for me as long as I get to see it. I found it funny that this year's lineup was hyped so much, and Luis Rivas who the Twins didn't even want playing was the first person to get a hit. Then I found it funny that our only steal was by Joe Mauer. I can't even remember the last time I saw a catcher steal, but that is cool if he has that aspect to his game as well. He went one step further in proving himself the complete catcher by throwing out the lightning fast Ichiro. Overall, the game didn't go as well as it could have, but it was the first game of the season, and you take back those two pitches to Sexson, and maybe the Twins win 1-0. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game.

In other news, I had a philosophy midterm today that went really well. 1 down and 3 to go for the week then i'm heading home. Can't wait till friday!

    What a weekend
Well, time for the weekend update...

The weekend started off pretty crazy. On thursday night, someone on my floor was vacuuming and accidentally vacuumed up a rubber band that started their carpet on fire. They put it out with the fire extinguisher, but the whole floor filled with smoke, and the entire building had to evacuate. As we were leaving, the smoke was so thick, I couldn't even see in the room on the other side of the hallway from mine.

Friday night, my roommate was out drinking, and I was sitting in my room drinking mountain dew, eating chex mix, and watching Independence Day (great movie, i know). About a third of the way through, Todd walks into the room followed by two police officers. Apparently he had gotten caught for underage drinking and got a ticket for 240 bucks. Ouch! The officers then decided maybe I was drinking, and gave me a breathalyzer. When I was done it said .000, then about a second later it switched to .001. The officer proceeded to look at me and say "Are you sure you haven't had anything to drink?" I didn't really know how to respond to this, so I said "Yeah, I really haven't. I've never had anything to drink in my life..." After looking back and forth between me and the machine for about 5 seconds, the other officer informed him that they aren't always right and maybe it was still Todd's saliva down in the machine. Thank god for rationally thinking police officers. How awesome would that have been to get in trouble for drinking when I've never done it in my life? Very awesome I think.

Saturday and Sunday, Karl was here visiting me. It was really awesome being able to just hang out with him and catch up on everything and just talk about sports, simpsons, and whatnot. We watched a lot of TV, ate at Chins and Qdoba, and played a few video games. Nothing too exciting, but it was a really good time. Also on Saturday night, apparently our housefellow (or RA to most of you) was really stoned. So that's kinda interesting I guess... Hmm...

Anyhow, definitely a good weekend and now only two weeks until spring break! Woo!

I guess I'm not entirely sure why I'm updating now, but it's 3am, there's nobody around to talk to, and I feel like saying some things even though i'm not entirely sure what they are yet. My mind has been going from place to place doing all sorts of things lately. I start by recapping my recent life.

Last weekend was amazing. Brad, Casey, Emily, and Mitch came to visit me at school and I had a really good time. We went to see I Heart Huckabees which was definitely an interesting film. It was only a week away, but that seems so long ago to me now. I know we did other things too, but just being able to sit with them and talk and listen to music and stuff was the best part. It's little things like that that are so nice. I don't get that much here. I still enjoy my time at school, but I miss those sorts of things, so that was really nice and I'm really glad they came.

Most of this past week was spent studying for my zoology exam. The exam was Thursday night and I think I did fairly well. I really hope I did. Last semester, I didn't take my classes quite as seriously as I should have at the beginning of the year. I think I am getting somewhat better at that now. I have a calc exam coming up this week, so I will have to spend much of this week studying for that. I also purchased MVP Baseball 2005 on Wednesday and spent most of Thursday night and almost all of today playing it. I needed something to provide relief when my exam was over.

I also went to play basketball today. I still really wish I had an actual team to play on, but pickup games are fun too. My team went 6-0 today and it was exhausting (winners keep playing, so we didn't get to sit out a game or anything). It was a lot of fun, and I'm really glad that I've found people to play with because it gives me something to do and keeps me in shape. The rest of the night wasn't too eventful. At about 1 I decided to watch Good Will Hunting. That is a quality movie. It seems like every time I watch a movie now it just makes me start thinking about life. Every single movie I watch or book that I read has relationships as a central focus, whether they be romantic or even just two friends, and that's something that I don't really have here at school (the first one at all, the second not too much). I don't know if it is because I don't take risks and step outside of my little bubble that I have created to prevent myself from being embarassed, getting rejected, or having any other feelings hurt. Or maybe I'm just not in the right environment. I think in the future I need to not block myself off from others so much.

I learned today that my grandpa died. Just typing those words hit me kinda hard. He's not actually related to me (grandma remarried), and I've only known him for maybe 7 or so years, but it's just such a weird thing to think about. He was a wonderful man and I have a hard time imagining never seeing him again. He was about the friendliest person I have ever met, and I never saw him without a smile on his face. That's a trait that isn't too common with people today.

Sorry to leave off with that downer. Just something that is obviously on my mind. Other than that, my life has been pretty enjoyable. I don't know why I get so long winded in these entries lately. I guess I just don't really feel like going to bed. I hope everyone else is doing well because if you read this, you are awesome.

    Weekend Update
Well, it's only 140 am, so I'll give a quick update of the weekend. Let's see Friday...

I went to my two classes, Philosophy and Zoology. Philosophy was interesting as always, and we have a new professor in zoology now because we are on a new topic and we have three total for the semester. It kinda sucks cause I liked the old one, but I think the new one will be fine too. After that, I came back to the room, ate, played some PS2, and then headed across the street to play some pickup games at the SERF (southeast recreation facility) with a few guys from my floor. I ended up playing five games and winning them all which was awesome because I had had a couple rough trips over there recently. Friday night I planned to just hang out in the room and maybe watch a movie or something since Todd is home apartment shopping over the weekend, but instead I ended up chilling with Tom from across the hall. Usually he would be out drinking, but he decided not to for some reason, so we played a couple games of ESPN College Hoops 2K5 for PS2. I was Duke and won the first one, and he was Illinois and won the rematch. After that, we watched Mitch Hedberg's DVD and then played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for PS2 which was actually really amusing and entertaining. All in all, it was an awesome night which was cool because these last few weekends have been a lot of fun which is a good change of pace.

Today I woke up and watched the Wisconsin-Illinois basketball game. I hung around the room not doing much for a while after that. At eight, I was sitting down to watch the Duke game and some people came into my room and convinced me to go play poker, so I Tivoed the game for later. It was five dollars to buy in and I was down, but ended up winning a few chips on the last hand to only finish 50 cents below my five bucks. I've played three times this semester and have 6.50 in profit to show for it. I watched the Duke game after that and it was a hell of a game, but fouls killed them. Five guys fouled out and they had two people in during overtime that had hardly played at all all year. When I finished that, I watched Miracle which I had borrowed from Tom. I really liked it, but it made me wish two things.
    1) That I knew more about hockey (although with the NHL's problems right now, maybe it doesn't matter) and
    2) That I still played competitive sports.
I really miss doing that. I even miss the practices. Everytime I play basketball, I just wish it had some structure and some ultimate goal. I always wonder if I would be happier trying to make a team at a D3 school or something. Even if I didn't make the main team, I could probably at least do JV or something. I don't know. Just something that crosses my mind.

Looks like this has gotten to be a sort of long entry. I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday and next week.

LJ world, long time no see...
So, tonight seems like a fitting night for a post. Last weekend, I went home for Twins fest with a girl from here named Becky. We both got to volunteer working at one of the autograph stations, and it was a lot of fun because her best friend's brother (who is an intern for the Twins) showed us around the stadium before hand. We got to see inside their clubhouse and walked right past Terry Ryan on the field. It was neat. PLUS... Boof Bonsor was at my autograph station. Yep. The Boof Bonsor. I'm already pumped for the regular season to start. I convinced my parents to pick me up from school that weekend so that I can go to that series.

In other news, tonight, I returned to my dorm to see a drunk kid I didn't know stumble out of a room with a glass bottle of what I can only assume was alcohol. He turned to his friend "how do i open it? should i smash it against the wall?" Sure enough, he smashed it against the wall, glass all over, and took a sip from the jagged part he was still holding as his hand is bleeding onto the ground. Fortunately, his friends were slightly less drunk and took him to the bathroom to get cleaned up. The glass is still out there...

Then, later, Todd walked into the room with some guy I had never met who had a beer in his hand. About a minute after he told me his name, two housefellows (RAs if you prefer that) walked by and saw his beer and cigar and informed us that they would have to write us up for this. So, I got my first contact card because a kid stepped in for about 60 seconds. It was awesome... I guess it doesn't do anything until you get four and get kicked out, but I will get to talk to my floor's housefellow about this.

All in all though, an interesting night. I got good coffee with eva and her cousin and some other people and hung out with them which was really fun. I also watched What About Bob? for the first time. Pretty good flick. Anyhow, I'm headin to bed now. Goodnight.

"Sleep seems a dream away and a year too late"
So I can't sleep... This never really happens to me. Usually if I just stay there for a while I fall asleep, but I was in bed for over half an hour and still didn't really feel tired. I don't know what it is. I don't know why I'm on here either. I guess because its 240 in the morning and most people are in bed. My first final is tomorrow. I hope I do well. I can't tell if I am prepared. Everyone seems to be leaving tomorrow. I'm going to be all by myself until wednesday night. I might never see my roommate again after tomorrow if he ends up transferring for next semester. That's weird. We've gotten to be really good friends. That girl from many posts ago. I guess I'll give her a name now. Her name is Sammy. She's really cool and the two of us have a lot in common. We kinda met at the worst possible time because we are both so busy with finals week and then we go home for a month. I'll probably still talk to her a lot over break which will be nice. She even said she might be visiting the Twin Cities at some point during break, but I'm not going to get my hopes up too much because I don't know the actual reality of it happening. I hope I do well in all my classes. College is a lot different from high school. It's weird. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at home so much. It will be so much fun.

Here are some things I want to do over break... hang out at Uncommon Grounds, play lots of ping pong, get a game of Ultimate going despite the blistering cold, hang out with lots of people, go on a late night walk, play video games with the guys, watch a Duke game or two with karl and any other interested parties, see how the sta bball team is doing, maybe go to kahns, drive around listening to music with friends, play with sammi and princess, read, play simpsons jeopardy, hang out with my parents, go bowling, did i say see everyone? I miss people, but I'm actually happy at school too. It's neat. At the beginning of the year, I didn't think this would happen. I'm sure there are lots more that i'm not thinking of right now that I want to do, but I guess I'm going to try again to get to bed.

I read on a simpsons website today that they will have an episode where Lisa helps Moe become a Bukowski-like poet. I thought that was really neat. It won't air till next season.

Does anybody know the song quote in the subject? If you do, you're cool. If you don't, you're probably cool too so don't worry about it.

Some of you may remember when I mentioned the night in which I heard a chainsaw startup in our hallway. Yesterday, I walked into the bathroom, and the kid that owns that chain saw was sitting on the floor cleaning it. It was kinda weird. Also, last night, as I was taking a walk, I saw a drunk person run and try to stop suddenly, but since it was drizzling and the ground was wet, he just completely wiped out on the ground. It was rather amusing.

    **NEW**

I forgot to mention that the kid who lives two doors down from me introduced himself to me last night. He said "Oh hey, my names Cody. And you're Ryne? Have we met?" I told him I lived like right next to him, but I guess since we've never actually been introduced he didn't know me.
